Effects

Showglo Plugin offers an ever-expanding suite of lighting effects designed to enhance your lighting presets. Each preset includes 4 FX slots, allowing you to load various effect modules. You can access these FX slots from the control section in the preset editor by clicking on any of the 4 FX tabs. Selecting an empty FX slot will bring up the “FX Menu” where you can choose from the available effects to load into the slot.

Next, we will explore each of the available FX modules and how they operate.

Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO)

The Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) module is a versatile tool within Showglo Plugin that allows you to create dynamic lighting effects. It modulates the intensity, position, or other parameters of your lights at low frequencies, producing smooth and rhythmic variations.

Dimmer LFO FX

Types of LFO

  • Dimmer LFO: Modulates the brightness of the light, creating effects like pulsing or fading.
  • Pan LFO: Modulates the horizontal movement of the light, useful for creating sweeping effects across a stage or area.
  • Tilt LFO: Modulates the vertical movement of the light, adding depth and dynamic motion to your lighting setup.

LFO Fixtures & Grouping

For an LFO to take effect, one or more compatible fixtures need to be added to the LFO’s fixture list. Once added, fixtures can be ordered and grouped to configure the behavior of the spread control.

Add Fixtures To LFO

  1. Select compatible fixtures that you want to add in the fixture selector.
  2. Click on the Add Fixtures button to add the selected fixtures to the LFO list.

Remove Fixtures From LFO

  1. Select the fixtures that you want to remove in the fixture selector.
  2. Click on the Remove Fixtures button to remove the selected fixtures from the LFO list.

Group Fixtures

Fixtures are ungrouped by default. Use the following steps to group a fixture.

  1. Locate a fixture that you would like to group.
  2. Drag the fixture onto the destination fixture or group to group them together.

Un-group Fixtures

  1. Locate a fixture that you would like to un-group.
  2. Drag the fixture to the desired position outside of the group to un-group it.

Re-order Fixtures/Groups

  1. Locate the fixture or group that you would like to move.
  2. Drag the fixture or group to the desired position to re-order them within the list.

LFO Parameters

The following parameters enable customization of the LFO effect.

Waveform

The waveform determines the shape of the oscillation, impacting how the light modulates over time. The available waveforms include:

  • Sine: Smooth oscillation from center.
  • Sine2: Smooth oscillation from the bottom.
  • Triangle: Linear oscillation from center.
  • Triangle2: Linear oscillation from the bottom.
  • Square: Abrupt transitions between high and low states, from center.
  • Pulse: Abrupt transitions between high and low states, from the bottom.
  • Sawtooth: Gradual rise followed by a sudden drop, useful for ramping effects.
  • Reverse Sawtooth: Sudden rise followed by a gradual drop, offering an inverted ramp effect.

Invert

This control inverts the waveform, flipping the modulation pattern to create opposite effects.

Amp (Amplitude)

The amplitude control adjusts the intensity of the modulation. Higher values increase the effect’s strength, while lower values produce more subtle changes.

Speed

This control sets the speed of the oscillation. Positive values move the effect forward, while negative values reverse the direction.

Space

The space control defines the interval between cycles of the waveform, allowing you to add space before the waveform repeats.

Spread

Multiple fixtures can be added to the LFO either individually or grouped together. This control adjusts the phase offset between these fixtures or groups.

  • 0% Spread: All fixtures or groups oscillate in unison.
  • Increasing Spread: Gradually offsets the phase of each fixture or group, causing them to follow each other in sequence. A higher spread value results in a more pronounced delay between the oscillations of each fixture or group, creating a cascading effect.
